Psychologist, Iowa State University; Educator, Author

Developmental psychologist Associate Professor Douglas Gentile is an award-winning research scientist, educator, author, and one of the world's leading experts on the effects of mass media on children, adolescents, and adults. He conducts scientific research on the positive and negative effects of media on children, adolescents, and adults, including such topics as media violence, educational media, video games, advertising, media ratings, and technology “addictions.” A/P Gentile has published widely in scientific journals and books, is author of three books on media psychology, and has received multiple awards for his contribution to research, public debate and the psychology profession, including the APA Distinguished Scientific Contribution to Media Psychology Award in 2010.
